Shannon McGurran Eberlein Accessibility Specialist, Project Manager
Ms. Eberlein has specialized in the field of accessible design since 1987, and has conducted over 1,300 home modification evaluations. She is very experienced being a part of the rehabilitation team assisting individuals with disabilities acquiring a home that allows them to move freely throughout their home and improve their independence and safety through architectural changes and utilizing products for improved safety.
At the beginning of her career, she managed the “Accessibility by Design” program for a Minneapolis based rehabilitation facility, Courage Center. She guided many families through their decision making process to determine their housing options, design features and product selections. She worked with contractors and specialty vendors obtaining bids and researched funding options when needed to assist in paying for the modifications. Over the years she has consulted with attorneys and insurance companies to assist clients in receiving financial awards for their clients to achieve the level of accessibility and independence they had prior to their injury.
In addition to her residential project experience, Ms. Eberlein has worked extensively as an independent accessibility specialist for nationally known architects and accessibility specialists conducting facility reviews for compliance with The Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, The Federal Fair Housing Amendments Act and state building codes pertaining to accessibility. Her impressive project experience, both locally and nationwide, includes compliance reviews of public entities, schools and universities, hospitals, privately owned buildings, corporations, sports facilities, and multi-family housing units.
Ms. Eberlein brings extensive experience to Accessibility Design, Inc. and her skills further provide each client with a valuable team member.
